For the purpose of this blog assignment I chose to highlight Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Delaware
CASA of Delaware positively impacts the lives of children by working to ensure that the best interest of each child served is acknowledged, respected, and maintained within judicial proceedings. Research have shown that once a CASA volunteer is assigned to a abused or neglected child, the likelihood of that child receiving essential services including health care, education, and therapy increases significantly. The volunteer of a CASA extend beyond serving the best interest of abused and neglected children within judicial proceedings to fostering the overall well-being of the child and family.
A vital “take-away” message relative to the work of CASA:
Serving the best interest of children is a service to the best interest of our future generations.

ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful message , children are our future.It is amazing how we never think that we volunteer, after this assignment I realized that what I do is just that.I think that when you do things that are your passion you just think that what you are doing is natural.I have been doing coat drives for a long time and never thought of it as volunteering untill now.I still think that it is just doing a good deed.

I am so ezcited everytime I get to read the post of my classmates because I am able to get information that is given in different veiwpoints. This is why it is so important as advocates to also understand that organziations can come together to teach each other. Thanks fot sharing this week!

ReplyDeleteIt is good to know that once a court appointed special advocate (CASA) volunteer gets involved in a case the child gets all the services required. This would at least make the child feel that she can trust and have relationship with this person. The child would be able to express her feelings and opinions because when a child is taken away from her environment she most often does not feel accepted but when she sees a familiar face a lot she then feels better.
